WIP2 Bug Reporter and Tracker
«
on:
October 06, 2009, 11:48:21 AM »
This thread is for the reporting and tracking of bugs and feedback with the WIP2.
Reported so far:
- FoAMainScreen.tga times out during a download from the patcher.
- Male Marine model (player and NPC's) has no physics/collision volume.

1 tester reported to me the male soldier is flying up into the sky....I have not experienced any of these myself...has anyone else experienced problems where the male soldier appears to float mid-air? or has some sort of off set floating point?

The male soldier walks on a plane without following the terrain, and can walk through buildings and objects.
By holding page up or page down, the male soldier can change altitude while moving.
The female works ok.

For me, FoAMainScreen.tga downloaded normally.

What I have seen so far...
Both the Females and Males use the same forward running animation no matter what direction you are actually running, I don't know if this is a bug or if you just haven't made any other animations yet.
If you are running the program fullscreen and you Alt-Tab out of it, if you try to get back in a dialogue box pops up saying "Error in the Application" and crashes the program.
When you press spacebar you don't jump, but the chat window says "got JUMP"
When you're the female and you run off of a platform you don't fall, you teleport to the ground instantaneously.

You dont have to be actually facing someone to hit them in combat. As well, there seems to be warping every now and then. On minute your standing in one spot, the next your on the other side of the base.

10-6-09 Bug report (playing Female Character on this report)
1. Excessive Screen shaking/tearing while moving. Was not a factor on 10-5-09.
2. When selecting an item in the inventory, it ?sticks? to the mouse pointer and cannot ?drop? into a separate slot. To clear the mouse pointer you have to right click ?in space? to get the pointer back. Active since WIP2 release on 10-5-09.
3. The Mini-map is not displaying the terrain properly as of yet. The zoom in and out works as expected.
4. No character ?equipment? sheet is visible at this time. (not sure if it implemented yet)
5. The ?escape? key does not clear the current commands. (not sure if this is planned or not)
6. The entire hand-to-hand combat representation system is not very pretty. Several bugs, all should be obvious
7. Alt-Tabbing or working on two screens in windowed mode isn?t working. Locks game interface and forces a re-launch of the multiverse client. I am assuming this is the multiverse client itself generating this issue. Forced back to the file check/download screen.
8. As noted previously, walking backwards shows the graphic of running forward (noticed on 10-5-09)
This list took about 10 min to generate. I understand that WIP2 is exactly that WIP. How far do you want us to go into finding bugs as opposed to non-implemented functions, and how do we know which is which. I am all for helping to ID bugs, I just don?t want to

Well, another couple things to add to the list. The quest's keep reseting every time I log in. I think ive got 3 tasers and senkan pistols. And not really a bug, but is there somewhere that shows what keys do what, and how to use whats in your inventory?

There are a number of features that are not functional, such as the minimap and jump. The simple way would be to disable them, but thought better to leave them in place.
We do need a help file which provides the listing of key bindings...
Ok, now to go over them...

That is currently available for the basics of flight (very basic...). That will be removed later, but I think it is good for now, even if it is weird to allow for people to have a bird's eye view.

The avatars are being redone and so fixing the existing ones are not going to happen.
The Alt-Tab error I'll pass onto Multiverse.
Falling down, currently this is how "gravity" works. A mobile object will always be connected to the ground, unless flight is used. So if walking off a cliff or disable flight in the air, there is no fall, just instant connection to the ground. Falling would need to be simulated (or until a physics engine is possible to integrate) or prevented. Prevention is going to be the short-term answer of preventing mobile-objects from moving/leaving into angled elevation that exceeds a given degree and flight will be disabled.

Yeah... avatar combat is primitive.
Not certain with the warping, may be due to latency with the server.

1. Is the shaking of the screen being done with the window as well or just from the camera? To figure out if it is an O/S problem, Client or game code.
2. Inventory, to be redone.
3. A map to the minimap should be available in the next couple of days.
4. No equipment for use as of yet. The new avatars will need to be ready first before props become available.
5. Will check into this.
6. Avatar combat... yeah... very basic, was not a priority.
7. Will report it to Multiverse
8. Avatar animations will be provided with the newer avatars.
In a way I do not want to say what should be ignored or not, as that provides some clues as to what people want.

Will check with the quest issue.
And right, need a help file and a tutorial, even if basic to provide some form of information as to what to do.

Quests persistence was not set for testing purposes. You may complete all of the quests multiple times, logging out will reset all quests (or client crash). This way you do not need to create new characters just to test a quest. This will change in future.

the Chat ingame is never showing combat logs in the combat section only in the main chat along with the system logs of chat... so anything done any attack or other things show up only in the main chat party chat works fine As does local.
not sure if that was allready know just throwing it out theyr.
Copied from General thread, will start working on this. This has to do with server messaging system so it may take a while to resolve.

Looks like your client is failing to enter the game world and draw the UI items. Please post your log file to me, preferably via email to.. hoadley (a t ) wardogstudios ( d o t ) com. Should be able to find your log file in the c:\programfiles\multiverseclient\logs or c:\documentssettings\multiverseclient\logs file directory. You will probably have a file called multiverseclient.log or exceptions.log.
Also, please advisir your system specs including your video card specificially if you are runinng shader 2.0+
Thanks.
