So will we know how much damage we do ie: 53 points to the legs of the Backfang.  or do we just know that we hit it in the leg and both pilots are not sure exactly how much damage is done.

I would like to see the formulas of damage kept secret to help eliminate the ability of players to statistically figure out which weapon systems and which mechs are the best overall.  I know that style of play has an affect on the persons choice of mechs and weapon systems but realistically there is a reason the M1 Abrahams is built the way that it is.  Someone took the best possible portions of multiple armor blueprints and came up with the best overall fighting vehicle.

This has been lightly touched on over the course of many topics, but from what i gather, there will be no hit point system.
So short answer, its either hit or miss.

I think what will happen is the player being hit will get information regarding how much damage a particular part has taken. Normal, moderate, heavy, then you get into internal and structural damage. The player doing the damage, i dont think they will be getting the info, i think their system will give them a rough estimate on how much damage their target has taken.

The rules of how the game is played (or should say, the rules) will be provided for all players.  So players will know how combat is conducted.  However, currently providing numbers or statistical information during combat is to not be provided.  Players will have to rely on their sensors and visual indicators.

A semi-on topic question.

Will the internal damage due to an armor pierce continue if that part is hit or will it have to penetrate again? if the latter is true, will it be possible for the next shots to hit the same point?

As of now, every shot (unless part of a shot group for high rate weapons) is considered to hit a new location of the armor.  However the armor may have been degraded/damaged from the previous penetrating shots; or to say stressed.  This allows for follow on attacks to have an easier time to penetrate.

The only other way that I can think of to allow for follow up attacks to hit the same exact hole would be to put in Critical Hits or allowing characters some form of Find Weakness Ability (which would become abusive).

I'm against having attacks hit the same hole, not only for the programming effort, but to keep battles lasting longer.  I don't know if players would like for their Mechs to go down quick.  But if there is a good argument with support, I can change my mind.
