I am not sure if this exists yet, and I just have not found it, but it would be real cool to have chat capabilities in the forum. Have one open chat page for all registered players (best to keep anonymous guests out) and allow for privte chats. I think that thiswould help the free flow of ideas and allow some thoughts to be hashed out in a few minutes rather than over days as ppl post and repost.

This might have come up before I got on and there are aguments against it. Just that I have not found them. And I am sorry for taking up everyones time if it has already been decided that this cannot happen. (not really sorry Smiley ).

An IRC channel could easily be set up and a plugin added to the site to allow people to use the feature directly on the site, but my opinion, there are not enough people (registered or otherwise) who hang out here yet to really justify the extra effort.

That was my thinking, that there is not enough of a base of users to support a chat or shout system.
Plus a chat system could cause there to be less postings, which when someone is looking over things and sees very few postings, may think the site is dead.

Though we need to get into the routine of hosting some Dev Chats.  Ok, starting in January, we'll start doing that.

*Hamilton-add note, create an IRC chat server/channel for FOA Dev Chat, until other 'features' are ready. Wink

IRC rooms are easy to set up and register. takes all but 10-20 min to do so. (Depending on if the admins are paying attention)

Skype could also be a choice, but Skype seems to perform poorly if your connection is less than the greatest Verizon FIOS offering.

I consider it as good idea. Once I wished to offer it but have forgotten...
I think chat room will be popular, sometimes it would be desirable to write something without topic creation. For example today I wished to wish developers of good luck on DragonCon 2009 but to create thus a theme have counted silly...
