I am agreeing with Hamilton.  If you have issues then take them up with him.  He stated his IDEA before my post and I am merely agreeing and asking the Devs to stay true to the game concepts that they have posted time and again.

Quit trying to pick a fight with me just because I don't agree with your ideas.  I didn't see you take this approach after Hamilton's post.  I won't participate in one and you are getting out of line pushing like this.  Express your ideas but allow me to do the same.

I don't have to justify or explain anything to you.  I don't agree and that is all that needs to be said.  If a Dev asks me for something more that is different but you are, like me, a potential player and only expressing ideas, just as I am.  The final decision is the Dev's, not you or me.

I will never agree with crowd control beyond what Hamilton has already outlined but you seem to ignore that fact in order to come after me.  Hamilton's post is all the description that I need to offer for what I consider crowd control, again something that I have posted several times now.  I suggest that you re-read it, again, and actually consider that to be my answer to ALL of your questions/concerns.

I have nothing more to add.  Since my responses to you have not made that clear I will state it as clearly as possible now.

Have a nice day.   Smiley

I don't care who you agree with, but turning you agreement into a passive aggressive load of crap is uncalled for.

it has nothing to do with you agreeing with my ideas or not, but the fact that all you do in this thread is say peoples ideas are crap without a reason why or alternatives, essentially a "your wrong for no other reason than because I way so", and I have no problem with people expressing themselves, my problem with you is how you go about doing it, without tact, respect, or consideration.

you right you don't have to justify or enplane anything to anyone, but not doing so is counterproductive, as it removes the ability for the person giving the idea or others to refine there ideas to make them suitable to all, so in essence it more detrimental to yourself who disagrees than to anyone else.  It is the final decision of the Devs, however you seem to be putting a lot of words in there mouths by pretending to know exactly what there "vision" for the game is. why do you think they asked for our help in the first place?  To improve upon that "vision".

you never said "NEVER" so I didn't have to ignore anything, but simply saying never is quite ignorant as you nor I nor anyone els can ever know every idea of everyone.  So keep an open mind even if you dislike the current crop of ideas for crowd control Wink

and try to be more respectful and tactful in your disagreements (seriously or I'll have to spam you with PMs reminding you Grin)

I have not been paying as close attention to the forums as I could but we've been a tad busy lately. Speaking of which with Hamilton out, much more so.

This thread seems to have gotten pretty heated, all that I ask is that you guys keep it civil, remain open to others ideas. I don't have time to police the boards, and don't need to or should have to. Even we, the devs, do not agree on everything (for instance I was 100% AGAINST perma-death while Mastiff wanted it to the extreme one shot dead start over full on loot perma-death). So with that said we figured it out by discussion, nothing is 100% set in stone, until it is. We ask ya'll keep an open mind, voice your ideas, no matter how rediculous (and believe me I've had my share of them) and refrain from any personal attacks on each other.

Lively discussion, input and ideas are encouraged, we're making this game for us, but you're going to play it as well, so that's why we ask for yours.

My opinion on the matter is the less crowd control type abilities the better especially for mech combat. If you want to root someone blow his leg(s) off , EMP type rounds with counters ok , fearing, mezzing etc ... no way no how.

I stopped paying attention when the posts started making my eyes vomit.

But what i was getting at is that no form of CC should fully disable a player.

ECM, EMP, radar jamming, etc. is fine.
Look at the old Mech Warriors. If you wanted to, you could equip a flame thrower which would overheat the enemy mech to the point of shutdown. This is NO! anything that fully disables a player and leaves them 100% vulnerable is bad.

Now, if being 100% vulnerable is the doing of the player being attacked, well then thats their own fault. but the attacker should have no access what so ever to any sort of i-win button.

I think it would be funny to watch a light mech just jump on a heavy and sit there tearing away at it with claws or something similar  Shocked Roll Eyes

hmmm, i think that could be an interesting, and valid tactic...quick squeeze on the jump yet from behind a mound... target your landing angle... adjust, drop on top and crash down on his radars and other instruments then start latching on with claw hooks (that some mechs may come with) and start wailing or ripping or using cutting torches on the hull...hehehe....

That would be something to see but I think it would be a situational type of strategy.
