Multiverse 1.0 client
«

Hello all! I just registered and this is my first post!
I registered at Multiverse.net and downloaded the 1.0 client. One of the virtual worlds it shows is Force of Arms. It downloads a bunch of files for FoA, but then boots me back to the desktop. I can log onto the other virtual worlds (Fantasy Demo World, Social Demo World, LunarQuest, Dark Horizons: The Awakening, and Forgotten Legends). They're a bit buggy since they're early in their development, but FoA doesn't run at all. Any suggestions?
Edit: This may be in the wrong place since I saw a Multiverse forum section here. Feel free to move this thread there if appropriate.

The server should be up now.
Go ahead and try again.

Let me ask some questions and see if I may be able to come up with some answers to the problems. If some of the information you do not want to answer in public (such as Firewall related), go ahead an send a Private Message (PM).
- Is there an Error Description that appears (ie: Could not connect to server)?
- Does the FOA Patcher Upload files (ie: should take some minutes to do so on first try)?
- What operating system and service patch is in use?
- What is the current version of MS .Net installed (if using Windows)?
- What is the current version of DirectX installed?
- Is there a Host Based Firewall System in use (ie: Zone Alarm)?
- Is there a Network Based Firewall System in use (ie: Hardware Firewall built into a router)?
- What is the Video Card in use and what is its current Driver Version?

To answer your questions.
-The only description I get is from a window named "Dialog" that tells me "Could not connect to server"
-The patcher works and I have all those FoA files on my pc now
-Windows XP SP 2
-.net framework 2.0
-dx 9.0c
-yes but I put multiverse client on my allowed list and also tryed turning it off
-geforce 300 with up-to-date drivers (yes I know an old card but still a decent one)

The video card may not be supported.
I assume that is a GeForce 3000.
I tried researching the card, but I could come up with much info.
- Does the card support Pixel and Vertex shader 2.0?
- Is there more than 128MB of VRAM?

I tried out Multiverse and played some FoA, however I experienced some fps problems, everything was moving slow and I had problems moving around. Also creating the char was a problem because when I clicked what I needed, it required a few good clicks to make it work.
This is my info:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.60GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM
Hard Drive: 250 GB Total
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE
Monitor: Default Monitor
Sound Card: SoundMAX Digital Audio
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
If you need other info, tell me.
Also, it was running on Windowed mode, incase it has an effect.

The FPS problem is still a bear of one. Have yet to optimize the environment.

Since this is just a showcase, do we report any bugs we find? Do we wait for a green light, or is the showcase more of a stand alone over what Wardog is tinkering with?

It is more of to show what the Multiverse Platform is capable of (many types of games) as well as for what we're showing and testing with. Any identification of bugs here will be good help to not only ourselves but to Multiverse as well.

Max I noticed you are using a GeForce 6600 LE. I used to use a 7300 LE card until I found out that the burst cache option on it that makes it use some of your physical ram to boost from its 256 onboard ram to 512 total ram caused problems with lots of games out there today. One thing you might want to look in to is wether or not your card is doing the same thing, and wether or not you can upgrade to a new card if thats the case.
Even though the card was supposed to be 512 rated. The constant strain of boosting the video memory and its actual crap performance compared to an actual X memory with true onboard chips makes the LE series something to be desired.
Something else that might help. How much memory does your card have, and what type of jack does it use? PCI, PCIE, AGP?
Modified:
One other thing to ask, Is your computer a Dell?
If it is I'll get more into why I am asking, if not I dont want to say why I am asking.
Also I Downloaded the M.V. Client and took a stroll through both bases. Smooth as Gravy for my rig.
Windows XP SP2
2.8 gig dual Intel
1 gig RAM
512 Geforce 7600 Card
Direct X 9.0c
Using a Linksys Router
Cable Connection
3.0 .net framework

I don't think my card is doing it, however I will check it out, can't do so at the moment, also I can't upgrade to a better card because I don't have PCIE as most cards needs today.
I think the card's memory is around 128-256, can't be sure, and it uses PCI.
My computer is an Intel Pentium 4.
I'm planning to get a new rig but not in the near future, though I got half of the cash I need for what I want.
