I have some webspace and a domain already setup and I've got a copy of the newest vBulletin setup (though no idea how to install it, once I got to config.php in notepad I was lost).
Not much to say about it now except that I'd prefer go to independent as a non-merc, if that's even possible, however would probably start off as either Lukron or Zekcom (leaning heavily towards Lukron at this point, fits the theme better).
If ya gotta go merc to make it as an independent than I assume that will be the course unless other options open up.
I'm working on a lorescape for the unit at the moment but I feel a little lost. I have an awesome grasp on Battletech history but witht he FoA lore I'm always worried something I come up with won't live up to canon when all is said and done.
So yeah, let me know if anyone else is interested. If anyone remembers I ran the Davion Heavy Guards from inception to end. Started in '98 and made it '05 which isn't a bad stint so I have experience with this kind of thing.
Btw, don't suppose a mod could move this over to settlement petitions? I guess that's where guild stuff goes for now.
Website is officially up

Topic moved as requested.
If you wish to write anything in reguards to your guild storywise, if it does not fit the canon of the FoA storyline, i am sure info can be given to make it fit better. Just dont expect topsecret Corp info.

Background
Originally formed in 2739 in response to the burgeoning corporate warfare that was consuming inhabited space, the 10th Legion, or simply
Legio, Inc.
as it was known then, began it's existence as a Private Military Contractor company composed mainly of ex-army Spaniards and Italians with a sprinkling of Americans.
Legio
found itself frequently employed between the bitter rivals Zekcom and Lukron as the corporate wars began to take off. The history between the corporations is ruthless as the very basis of their way of life is diametrically opposed.
As the centuries wore on the constant warfare started taking a massive psychological toll on the leadership of
Legio
. The PMC was a complete meritocracy and no favor was ever given as one progressed up the ranks but the legionaries began to want something more. Something permanent. The soldiers of
Legio
often found themselves romanticizing about their ancient predecessors who had the privilege of fighting under a real banner for a real nation.
As the bulk of the
Legio
forces traveled through space on contract with Zekcom they found themselves one of the few who actually rejoiced a little when the failure of all FTL drives and interstellar communications was announced within the fleet. This was just the opportunity they needed to take
Legio
to the next level.
Planetside
Upon disembarkation on KWD-9 Captain Gaius Cavadus gathered all of his officers and NCOs for a council. Debate raged and topics flew out of every last member but it was clear that nearly everyone in attendance was ecstatic about one thing: this was the moment when
Legio
would graduate to a permanent military unit that was attached to a corporation. The real debate came when it was time to decide which one.
The Genomans and Senkans were ruled out of the debate immediately. No legionary present had any desire to mutate their basic genetic structure or arbitrarily replace any limbs and organs with cybernetic equivalents. As with their constant struggle between Lukron and Zekcom the decision boiled down to their two most frequent employers and two most frequent enemies.
As the Officer In Charge Gaius Cavadus had to make the final decision on which banner to support. On the one hand the Lukrons were a true meritocracy and offered the best compensation for permanent service. On the other Zekcom provided the greatest personal liberty which the soldiers of
Legio
had come to expect after centuries of corporate autonomy.
In the end Captain Cavadus chose the Lukrons for the simple fact that Zekcom frequently contracted out it's own corporate forces to the other big three.
Legio
was finished with impersonal battles.
Aftermath
After the decision was announced the high command restructured
Legio
to match the mold for which the company had originally been named after. Rechristened
Legio X
, or the 10th Legion in english, the cognomen
Gammica
was added to reflect the legion's base of operations and home as was the custom for some legions in ancient Roman times.
Legio
had fully transformed itself into a modern day image of a Roman legion from antiquity ready for nothing less than the expansion and glory of their new Lukronian Empire.
Upon contacting Baron Wicherstein about the decision Captain Cavadus and the 10th Gammica were attached to the 47th Lukronian Expeditionary Force and fully integrated into the Lukronian Armed Forces. Along with the rest of the 47th the 10th mmediately set out to locate a strategically advantageous location for the construction of the 47th's new fort.
A site was founded and the earth was broken for the 47th's new home:
Castra Caesaria
in honor of the man who raised the original
Legio X
in Hispania during the first century B.C. and took those fine legionaries across Gaul and captured Vercingetorix. Who defeated the Nervians. Who were the first men of civilization to discover the isle of Britannia. Who fought for Augustus and Domitian against the rebel governor Saturninus. Who waged a century long war against the Parthians.
From this base of operations the legionaries of the 47th gaze out on to the frontier of their new home with optimism in hopes of one day re-establishing a true nation-state and putting an end to corporate dominance forever.

Sounds like a great concept and idea. I would be interested at looking at joining. Just so long as your name is not Mark Antony, I know what happened when they followed that guy against a kid named Octavian. It was not pretty. The common soldier always take the brunt of the punishment.

No, no silly names. I'll be simple "Gaius Leviticus Cavadus." And even if I went with a name after a historical character I certainly wouldn't use the butchered anglicized versions of their name (i.e. Marcus Antonius, not Mark Antony).
Thanks for the interest. Once I get a website put together and some infrastructure in place I'll let everyone know.

Very nice, very detailed backstory...I'm liking it...Always did like ancient Rome...
as for canon, I'll need to check that date on the timeline, there is a very specific war that was fought called the tri-corp war that may conflict...I'll get back with you on that one...
Plus you're going Lukron, my pet favorites...Power to Lukron!

Coolio, I can switch whatever dates around to make it fit. Yeah, Lukron it is. I'm not thrilled at all about the "communist" aspects but I figured it would be the closest fit to a traditional fascist state that the game has to offer.
Can't wait to see some images of Lukron battlemechs.

If you read the Lukron lorescape the word "communist" pops up twice while fascist is nowhere to be seen. I'd prefer if the emphasis was on fascism myself to differentiate them a little more from the other three, particularly Zekcom, but meh, close enough.

I just re-read it, you're right. It seems more like Chinese communism, which blows big time.
I can't wait to take a bite out of lukron territory.....Fascists.....

Nice story and no there is no conflict to the canon. Since the FOA canon is new and not much information provided to the public, there is much flexibility. Actually though, the canon from game launch will be determined by the players. We'll provide the framework and the major plots, hoping that the players do thinks right... but as with any RPG campaign, nothing ever goes according to the best laid plans by a GM.
Now as for how Lukron goes about its ability to operate, is more akin to practiced Communism (strong central government with communal work); however, that does not imply that the whole faction is unified with this form of control. Each faction has its own inner political conflicts.
With K-9WD is the near chaotic environment it brings, individuals have a greater opportunity than ever to make a difference. So a shift towards other forms of control, beliefs, or methods of management is possible.

Any chance Lukron could be switched to a more direct fascist state? Communal work is common in any society. We see it in the U.S. with basically any government job, particularly the military.
It just seems like Genoma and Senka were setup to be polar opposites so it would stand to reason that Lukron should antithesize (can you conjugate a verb out of antithesis?) Zekcom who remind of basically renaissance Venice (merchants rule all, as little government involvement as possible).
The fact that Lukron has communist elements makes me want to switch to Zekcom. I'm still fairly torn between two. They both offer a little of what I want. I guess I'm basically looking for a the government from "Starship Troopers" if that helps any.

Seeing as the guild system is allowing alot of political influence from them, maybe a reform is in order

Just a heads up but the
47th
(formerly Legio X) now, and has been for sometime, an official MMORPG player organization. Originally in Tabula Rasa, we've since moved on to Guild Wars for now until the day
Earthrise
is released (which should be Q1 next year, "should be").
We also look forward to gaming it up as the 47th Lukronian Expeditionary Force in FoA so
stop on by the website and say hello
!
So if anyone is currently looking for a home, trying to kill some time with current MMOs, maybe still kickin' about in Guild Wars, look us up
