a year or 2 ago, football player Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire. The government threw it under the rug fairly quick and did little to compensate the family's loss.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.  He's a Ranger, which means U.S. Army, which means Servicemember Group Life Insurance (SGLI), which means $250k life insurance policy for $15.00 a month which pays out in the event of combat related deaths.

So a quarter of a million isn't enough for you?

I just finished six years active duty in the Army, four tours.

I must have skipped that one, for I don't remember reading it.  But right, the SGLI is there to help cover the expenses.  Of course I don't think $250k is near-enough the worth of a life, but then $250k is a fairly significant dollar amount for most people.

Not at all.
As so long as you admit to being in the wrong (when it happens), then it works in your favor.
You get more respect that way.

Problem is... his family never got that money since he didn't really die in combat. He was in a friendly area and it was considered an accidental death, though at first it was considered a suicide.

The family never got the insurance?

From what I remembered with the SGLI, it applies when death occurs, no matter where or how.  For example, even in a car crash at a base.

wow a sticky on conspiracy theories Wink well I wouldn't know about stuff like that a lot of it has been brushed off as garbage but as far as aliens are concerned? Well with all this new evidence cropping up such as water being on mars and also possible life being on that moon ( totally forgotten the name ) and then there's that planet I remember seeing something about which was pretty much ten times bigger than earth but having plant life etc.  on it, you'd have to be a complete idiot not necessarily to NOT think about it but not believe that there's other sentient life out there besides us, it's just physically impossible for there not to be with how big the universe could be.

Frankly I can't wait until we get up into space Cheesy

On the note of the NAU from before, I don't like it. I just finished watching the Anime Code Geass, and the "Holy Empire of Britannia" originated from North America. Granted, I understand that it's an anime, but still, it makes me wonder just what's going to happen. Although the increased production could benefit the country, I will never agree with imperialistic expansion.

Just my two cents on the NAU.
