So, when is the game going live, I was told about this by someone from FoA on the MMORPG.com forums...because I was asking about Age of Armour; which will be going live within a week or so -- probably after they get their web site, etc. bugs worked out.

We are currently in alpha testing at this stage. Although we do have some plans for something in the very near future, to be announced. Welcome aboard.

I'll have to check to see if we released that info yet, but its pretty low cost from my last recollection.  Smiley

I keep seeing MMO subs increase and some of them just are not worth it. I am hoping that this will be my first that keeps me longer than 3 months like everything I have played since DAoC (played WoW longer but that was me trying to force myself and it just made things worse). This game will work for me since it seems I can play hard 2 weeks and then spend a month just sort of logging in for the brief time I have and not feel behind.

We're planning on using multiple sources of revenue to keep subscription costs down (I prefer free, but free service leads to abusive multi-accounts by players).  Subscription cost will be low, but are expected to increase over time; HOWEVER, the subscription fee will be at below average market and additionally locked at the initial rate the user signed up as. (Hence if the game was at $1/month (just an example) and that was the rate for the sign-up of the user, and now is at $20/month; that user will still have the $1/month rate).  But of course if the subscription rate was to drop, then the user will get the lowest of the two.

Am surprised to see that the average rate is now at $15/month.  That is buying a new AAA game every three months.

Yeah and that is why Vanguard is the last one I have purchased in a while. I only purchased that because wife wanted me to have a game and I could not stay at if for a month. The cost with my time spent in most games does not equal worth the price. I like the idea of locking in a subsciption price. Makes it easier if not playing for a month to feel like it was wasted to keep the game going. The $15 a month has actually caused me to be less likely to play a MMO because most don't interest me longer than a month because is basically rinse and repeat of every other one I have played.

Great!

Something else that I want to add is the ability for players to let their accounts go inactive for a period of time and not pay for that time.  For example, when I was deployed in the US Navy for 6 months, I had to keep paying for my account of a certain fantasy game so my characters would not get deleted (well supposedly).  The problem is getting that fine detail figured out, such as if I only played for one hour of the month, do I get charged for the whole month, even though my account was inactive for most of the days in the month?

Thanks Hamilton for expressing that feeling. I am one though that if I have locked in a price then I can live with paying the fee for the account. Later on I figure will be different for ones at the current phase. I don't know about the deletion but one thing that might help with the subscription cost is having a players profile show what Phase the person activated the account and somewhere that shows the price for the Phases since I figure that is when a rise in subscription would occur. The loss of character because of inability to leave is hard. The only thing I could think of there is to help is offer a Vacation/Deployment or whatever name subscription that is cheap and only keeps account active. It does not allow any ability to get into the game till the account is taken off the Vacation/Deployment subscription and regular subscription is paid for. That might be difficult as well but I don't know. I figure most would understand that.

i like the way you are thinking hamilton what happens if real life interferes do you pay for a whole month for 1hr of play or do you use so much of time for the month hmmmmmmmmmmmm that sounds good seeing most of us have to work in real life some times doubles of family emergencies or even vacations let see where this ends up  Undecided

We could go with the hourly rate or daily... but there is a stigma attached to that (well apparently in the Western World).  Well maybe weekly would be good?
Or a performance rate; depending on the number of hours played per week, determines the rate as either half-rate or full-rate.

A monthly subscription rate does have some sort of pressure to it, and if there was no such thing would give something less to worry about.  A one-time payment does have its merits as well.
